I need to clarify that if you are not a fan of horror to begin with, don’t pick up this book thinking it will be fun. My only criticism is that I hate the overly religious, fire and brimstone, condemning mother cliche that was in this book as well as others that I’ve read. The end was a bit to quick and easy for my taste.

Some other notes of wtf-ery: Conrad plans to use Gunther to kill Ellen’s children. Midway through the ride, Conrad shuts off the power, stranding the four teens inside the funhouse while being hunted by Gunther and Conrad. The female protagonist was close enough to me koonz years, her descisions could have been mine, her children even reminded koontz of myself at a younger age.

From what I remember, the writing just flowed from one page to the next, making it simple for a relatively inexperienced reader like myself to follow along. I won’t say that it’s a masterpiece of horror but I think that if you give it a chance, you will koonta a delicious creepy time with the book. This book was a fun and creepy ride. In funhouses, people are supposed to scream.

Now, let’s talk about the plot, the storyline. People who like to say Koontz is a second rate Stephen King kolntz get plenty of backup for their argument here, as Ellen’s devout Catholicism is the result of her tryst with an older man who impregnated her, not unlike Carrie ‘s Margaret White. Also, is it necessary to have the funhouse monster be funhojse in some way to Amy or her family to make it creepy?
